Farm to School Retreat and Farm Tour Scheduled for March 9

A FREE Farm to School Retreat and Farm Tour will be hosted by the Center on Friday, March 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Douglas County school food service personnel. Bus transportation will be provided for this daylong tour of local farms, a school garden and other sites that are sure to inspire guests about the avenues for incorporating local foods into school meals.

The group will tour Robinette Farms and Common Good Farm as well as Mickle Middle School’s garden, which includes a season-extending hoophouse, in Lincoln. Oklahoma Farm to School Administrator Ms. Chris Kirby will share a keynote address at a luncheon featuring locally sourced ingredients at James Arthur Vineyards.

All attendees will receive gift bags and local food samples.
