Food Story

Growing up, Corlew spent many days in the kitchen with both her grandmother and her dad. They taught her how to cook and instilled in her from an early age that a meal was something to be cherished. Food was, and always will be, Corlew’s love language. It wasn’t until later in her adult life that Corlew realized how much of a privilege this was. During her first year of college, this sparked an interest in first food equity: the idea that human milk is the foundation for health and breastfeeding should be made possible for all families. From birth through the end of life, healthy and preferred food choices should be a right, not a privilege. Corlew is committed to supporting the research that explores how this can be made possible through food access, equity and security.
