The public health programs we evaluate focus on bringing good nutrition and physical activity into more lives — by helping to promote healthy eating and active living, strengthen food security, build organizational advocacy capacity and incorporate health equity into programming and strategies.
This includes the promotion and assessment of healthy food access in schools, early care and education centers, neighborhoods and communities, and other environments. It also includes the development and implementation of programs to facilitate healthy eating and active living, while tracking and improving programs along the way to ensure success. We also examine the coexistence of food insecurity and obesity and determine interventions for both that promote optimal dietary quality among all Americans.
Our research staff members have extensive experience with multi-level designs and accompanying statistical analyses, school food and physical activity environment, dietary and physical activity assessment, early care and education obesity prevention programs, technical assistance, hunger studies, rural food access, health equity, food incentive programs, policy advocacy and more.
How We Work
Incorporated in Omaha, Nebraska and geographically dispersed throughout the U.S., our all-remote staff is comprised of nearly 60 team members who bring talent and dedication to support our mission. We collaborate with partners across the U.S. who implement or manage programs to improve health, and who work with integrity and compassion to bring about positive change in policies and environments that can facilitate healthier individuals.
We listen to our partners’ priorities, challenges and concerns to provide evidence of their hard work with the smartest research and evaluation tools we can collect or create. Not only do we help prove—or improve—their programs’ effectiveness, but we also provide high-quality, rigorous data to back it up.
We are the only independent non-profit nutrition research center in the U.S. with this type of adaptability and freedom to meet our partners' needs.
