Food Story
Cawrse changed her eating habits in high school and realized how great you can feel if you nourish your body appropriately. Throughout her internship, Cawrse was drawn towards the preventive aspect of nutrition. Shortly after becoming a registered dietitian, she served as a Home Based Primary Care Dietitian for Rural Southern Colorado Veterans. While working with homebound Veterans, Cawrse saw food insecurity for the first time and felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and privilege for not having experienced food insecurity herself. This was a paradigm-shifting moment in her career: She knew she needed to focus on helping people gain the tools to lead successful, happy lives. With this newfound sense of purpose and passion, Cawrse discovered WIC where she worked as program manager in Pueblo and Denver, Colorado, as well as Wayne County (Metro Detroit) Michigan.
