New Jersey Food
Security Initiative

Project Description

Led by the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), the New Jersey Food Security Initiative (NJFSI) is a three-year cross-sector, collaborative, community-centered effort to increase food security and good nutrition, and advance health equity in New Jersey. The Center for Nutrition & Health Impact will be leading the evaluation efforts of the initiative, which launched in fall of 2023.

Critical Reflection on Piloting a Community-Engaged Evaluation Co-Design Process

The Center for Nutrition & Health Impact served in multiple support roles during the planning phase of the initiative (2021-2023). This included serving as subject matter expert for food security, conducting process evaluation for the planning phase and facilitating a community-engaged evaluation planning process.

This report details the process and lessons learned from the NJFSI evaluation planning efforts.
