Food Story
Growing up in a Bangladeshi household, food was more than just a meal for Hossain—it was a way of showing love and strengthening family bonds. As Hossain grew older, she began noticing something: while her family’s food was rich in flavor and culture, it wasn’t always the healthiest. Many traditional recipes were high in oil, salt and refined carbs, contributing to health concerns within her family and community. This realization sparked her curiosity about the relationship between food, health and culture, inspiring her to pursue a career in public health with a focus on nutrition. Today, Hossain works to bridge the gap between cultural traditions and healthy living. Through education and community initiatives, she aims to empower others to adapt traditional foods into balanced, nourishing meals. For Hossain, food is still love—but now it’s also a tool for building healthier, more connected communities.
