  • Issues in health equity: Population-based insights into Latino maternal and child health 

  • In her presentation on health issues in Latin American populations, Lima Dos Santos took the opportunity to explain the importance of numbers in health inequality, stressing the importance of data helping researchers understand the pressing health challenges Latino/a/é populations face and inform future decisions. 

Main takeaways and highlights: Each year, OLAC brings experts together to promote research in all areas of Latin America and make connections that strengthen and empower Latino/a/é communities. Lima Dos Santos enjoyed talking about what she loves most: data! She has also been talking about how essential it is to have more representation of women in STEM, especially in data analysis. In reflecting on her time at OLAC, she shared, “We need more female voices in this field, and I’m excited to be part of that change. Let’s keep pushing forward!”
