Food Story

For Hall, food has always been both an anchor to community and a catalyst to learning. She spent holidays with her grandmother preparing pineapple glazed ham and sweet potato pie while exploring global cuisines through her mother’s introduction to Parisian pastries, sushi and Italian antipasto at an early age. Growing up in the South Bronx, her family didn’t always have access to the healthiest foods. When her grandmother became ill, Hall educated herself and her family to healthier alternatives and plant-based nutrition. Inspired by the impact of nutrition on health, she pursued a Master of Public Health at UCLA where she studied community health sciences. Hall enjoys recreating recipes from her cultural heritages by incorporating healthier and dairy-free ingredients.
