Presentation:  

  • Produce Prescription as Intervention Method for Achieving Sustainable Impact on Individual and Community in symposium, The Future of Diabetes Nutrition Interventions—Innovation in Practice 

  • Mitchell discussed PPR as an innovative intervention for diabetes management and prevention, and shared information about a Center for Nutrition & Health Impact study on the impacts of PPR led by Dr. Carmen Byker Shanks with support from the ADA.   

Main takeaways and highlights: Themed The Future of Diabetes Nutrition Interventions—Innovation in Practice Organizers: American Diabetes Association, this meeting shed light on the importance of sharing the Center’s work on improving food access as a social determinant of health to audiences with a more clinical orientation. For some attendees, the concept of PPR as an intervention to improve diabetes outcomes was novel.
