Attendees: Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Whitney Fung Uy

Presentation

April 24

  • Environmental and Health Impacts of Specialty Crops in the US Midwest: A Qualitative Study Guided by the RE-AIM Framework

Pictured above: Dr. Whitney Fung Uy presenting on the Center’s Midwestern specialty crops landscape analysis.

Main takeaways and highlights: It was Dr. Fung Uy’s first time attending the Association for International Agricultural and Extension Education (AIAEE) conference, where she shared findings from the Center’s Midwestern specialty crops landscape analysis, conducted in partnership with Builders Initiative and Walton Family Foundation, with agriculture-focused audiences. The 2024 AIAEE conference brought together Cooperative Extension staff (e.g., Extension agents, state specialists), students in the various agricultural academic programs and practitioners. Dr. Fung Uy's highlights and main takeaways included learning more about sustainable agricultural practices to mitigate climate change and seeing how researchers were conducting research on this topic in various areas around the world. The work in this field is helpful to inform Dr. Fung Uy's research as she expands her experience across the food system and dives deeper into the food production side of things.
